Mart E. (Marty) Terry was born October 31, 1929 at the family farm in Ditch Valley to Marcus W. and Mildred V. (Jones) Terry and passed away July 28, 2020 at the family farm in Ditch Valley.

Marty was a young boy during the Dust Bowl and shared stories of that sad, scary time in history.

Marty graduated from Englewood High School in Englewood, Kansas in 1947.  He attended Panhandle State University before transferring to Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, graduating in 1951.  While in Stillwater, Marty met his sister’s roommate, Joretta Feddersen, from El Reno.  They fell in love and married July 29, 1951 in El Reno, Oklahoma.

The couple moved back to Ditch Valley where Marty began a life-long commitment to being the best farmer he could be.  When he wasn’t milking cows in the dairy, he was swathing, baling, and hauling alfalfa.  At harvest time, there were not enough hours in the day for all the work that needed to be done.  He never complained, and he found joy in every day.

The couple increased their family by four with the births of Michael Dale, David Eugene, Deborah Sue and Steven Wayne.

Marty was a member of the Rosston United Methodist Church.  Even people who did not know Marty could see his kind spirit.  He lived out the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, and self-control.

The only hobby that involved him leaving the farm was to go water skiing.  In his later years, he enjoyed playing cards, visiting, and gardening.  Marty was the official Ditch Valley Rainfall Tracker.

Marty is survived by his wife of 69 years, Joretta; Sons, Michael and Susie Terry, Ditch Valley, David Terry, Laverne, Steve and Lanette Terry, Ditch Valley; Daughter, Debbie and Max Carlisle, Fairview; Grandchildren, Kevin and Kimberly Terry, Ditch Valley; Erin and Dan Prince, Edmond; Darin and Shannon Terry, Laverne; Haley Wedel, Fairview; Grant Carlisle, Guthrie; Blake and Bethaney Carlisle, Fairview; Amanda Parsons, Edmond; Kyle and Randi Terry, Ditch Valley; Sisters-in-Law, Georgia and Melvin Jones, Yukon; Catherine Corn, Liberal, Kansas; Niece, Connie and Benny Rupprecht, Canadian, Texas; Nephew Hugh and Iris Lively, Woodward; Twenty-three Great-Grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
