Linda Kay Dotson

Linda Kay Dotson (Derthick) went home to be with her savior on October 28, 2018, following a battle with sudden stroke, sepsis and kidney failure.

Linda was born September 1, 1940 in Tecumseh, Michigan to parents Forrest E. and Dorothy (Gillis) Derthick. She spent her childhood in Blissfield, Michigan and graduated high school in 1958. In September of 1958, Linda enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in

October 1959.

Linda met her husband of 59 years, Charles, while serving together in the Marine Corps. Throughout the years, along with being a mother of 5, Linda held numerous part-time jobs as varied as hardware store clerk, local radio announcer, city Councilman, postal clerk, and election board official.

Anyone who met Linda would quickly learn of her love for her family and for the Lord.  She had no formal education past high school, but loved learning, which was a lifelong passion.  She liked history, especially English history, the Bible, as well as loved doing crossword puzzles, quilting, listening to music, and collecting.  She had a huge collection of buttons, football cards (especially Denver Broncos), pencil sharpeners, pencils, books, and CDs. 

Linda is survived by husband Charles Dotson of May, OK; children: Charles Dale Dotson Jr. of Denver, CO; Darla Billings of Lakewood, CO; John Dotson and his wife Raquel of Cary, IL; Elizabeth Dotson of May, OK; children of her beloved Brother John: nephew Tom Derthick of SC and niece Beth Ann Derthick of New Jersey; and grandchildren Christopher, Brian, Eric, Amanda, Amelia, Amara, Matthew, Emily and Samantha.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, by beloved brother John Derthick of Harrisburg, NC in 2011, by son James Andrew Dotson in 1995 and his wife, Karla Gossman in 2014, William (Bill) Derthick in 2017.
