Denzil Carlisle left this life peacefully in her home with family by her side in Laverne, OK on Monday, August 17th, 2020 at the age of 89 years.

Denzil was the only child born to Mikel Boon and Juanita(Wilson) O’Hair on May 4, 1931.  She remembered her first years on the farm and ranch were full of fun as she and her parents lived in the upstairs of her Grandpa Jim O’Hair’s house on the O’Hair homestead in western Harper County. She started First grade at the Union School near Spearmore, OK. Starting 8th grade Denzil convinced her mother to take her to meet the bus so that she could go to Laverne to school.  Mike built a new house in Laverne and the family moved into their lifetime home in 1947-same day as the historic Woodward tornado. Denzil graduated from Laverne High School in 1949 and soon married Robert Covey that September in Buffalo, OK.  Denzil started working at the First National Bank of Laverne in April of 1952. She continued working there until 1954 when she and Robert moved to Tulsa.  In Tulsa they lived in an apartment, and she traveled by bus 30 min. one way to get to work at a bank; however, she missed Laverne and within a year they anxiously moved back home.  Denzil returned to her prior job where she remained employed at the Laverne Bank until she opened her own ladies dress shop in 1967 “The Village Shoppe”. Denzil had a special appreciation for fashion and fine ladies’ apparel.  She and her family enjoyed running the store until Robert passed away in Jan. 1987.  She soon closed her dress shop and returned for the 3rd time to the First National Bank of Laverne (Bank of Laverne as of 1993) where she enjoyed friends and work until she retired in 1995.

Lifetime friend, Clyde Carlisle who had lost his spouse, Ava (Kamp) Carlisle also in April of 1987 were reacquainted and married April 22, 1989 at the First Christian Church in Laverne.  Denzil said she was honored and blessed to suddenly have 3 children, their spouses, and 7 little ones in a ready- made family. Clyde continued to farm and ranch while Denzil enjoyed fashion, decorating, shopping, arranging flowers, and spending time taking care of her parents. Denzil surprised the whole family when she became so fond of a lop-eared stray Basset hound, “Lady” that Clyde brought home. In later years Denzil was blessed by Clyde’s loving companionship as he cared for her and her parents. Denzil and Clyde enjoyed many family gatherings and holidays with their 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Denzil leaves as her survivors, her loving and devoted husband of 31 years, Clyde of the home.  Stepchildren: Patrece and Lee McLaurine of Laverne; Max and Debbie Carlisle of Fairview; Don and Leilani Carlisle of Laverne. Stepgrandchildren: Amy and Josh Snider, Laverne; Haley Wedel, Fairview; Grant Carlisle, Guthrie; Andrew and Helena McLaurine, Laverne; Trey and Amy Carlisle, Laverne; K’dawn and Britt Hilton, Gate; Blake and Bethaney Carlisle, Fairview; Hartly Carlisle, Laverne. Fourteen Great-grandchildren; Cousins; Bill Malmquist, Ken Blain, and Steve Blain of California, and many more cousins and friends.
