Willa Johnston Obituary

Willa Dean Johnson, was born to F. Everett and Kathryn DeMoss on July 19, 1929 in Laverne, Oklahoma and left this earth to her heavenly home on January 8, 2023 at the age of 93.

She graduated as Valedictorian from Laverne High School with the Class of 1946 and then attended Northwestern College in Alva. On February 4, 1949, Willa married the love of her life, Frank William “Johnny” Johnston. 

Willa worked at various secretarial jobs in Kansas, Colorado,, Texas and Oklahoma, and then returned to Laverne to serve as the Town Clerk. After retiring in 1996, her and Johnny moved to Golden Oaks Village in Enid, where she lived until her death.

While living at Golden Oaks Village, Willa served on the Residents’ Council and Chapel Board, was on the Integris Bass Baptist Auxiliary, and served as Leader of the Swimming Aerobics Class.

Willa attended the Laverne Trinity Faith Fellowship Church while living in Laverne, where she served on the Church Board in various positions. While in Enid, she attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Willa is survived by her foster family, Al and Sonya Harris, Shawna Harris Peck, and Wade Harris; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many cherished friends.
