Velma Junne Redinger Fleming was born on Christmas Day, 1934 to Dick and Rose Redinger. When Junne was 2 years old, their house burned. Junne was in the house when the fire started. Her mother ran into the house and saved her. Junne carried the scars of that fire on her forearms all her life. In 1948 the family moved to Beaver County and lived just south of the Midway Church. After moving to the Logan community, Junne met Dale Fleming, the love of her life. They were married on June 21, 1951.
Junne and Dale had four children; Joyce, David who passed at 11 days old, Clifford and Roy. The family worked hard on the farm and Junne was always out working alongside of them. Besides farming, there were cows to milk, chickens for eggs and meat, gardens to tend, a seed retail business to run, a hay hauling business and driving a bus to Victory then Garrett schools where she volunteered in the school library.
Junne loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and supported them in everything they did. This was evident by the thousands of miles Junne and Dale traveled to ball games to watch them. From grade school games at Garrett to watching Joyce in high school at Laverne then in college at Panhandle State, they could usually be found in the stands. They seldom missed a home game at Panhandle.
Another of Junne’s passions was stock shows. When Clifford and Roy started showing cattle, she and Dale never missed being there. They even bought a travel trailer to take to the shows for the boys to stay in and have meals in. Mom could usually be found cooking meals for all their friends and on occasion, have kids no one seemed to know come by and grab a burger. She enjoyed watching all the kids work hard and be successful in their show careers. Later, when the grandkids and great-grandkids began showing, her role switched to ringside cheerleader. She could be found ringside in her chair with “Stock Show Grandma” embroidered on the back. She was always supportive whether they were first or last. When her health didn’t allow her to travel to shows, she could be found watching the livestream of the shows on her phone and receiving texts of results from other family members. Junne enjoyed those times and deeply loved her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
Junne was preceded in death by husband Dale and infant son David, parents Dick and Rose Redinger, in-laws Harry and Erma Fleming, daughter-in-law Linda Fleming, great granddaughter Deirdre, brother Charles and sister-in-law Leona Redinger, sister Shirley and brother-in-law Dick Burke, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Avis and Jesse Galyen, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Doris and Leland Coberley.
Junne is survived by daughter Joyce, son Clifford, son Roy and daughter-in-law Tena, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Josh and Amy Snider, Caroline and Cate; Tucker and CandiSu Fleming, Kodie and Kaleb; Jenna and Danny Stump, Madison and Matthew; Tyrel and Melissa Fleming and Connor; many other family members and a multitude of friends.
