VERNON DALE KELLN

          Vernon Dale Kelln crossed over to the other side early Thanksgiving morning following a long spell of declining health.  Vernon was born and raised in Shattuck and always considered it his home no matter where his life took him.

          He graduated from Shattuck High School and attended Automotive Trade school in Wichita, Kansas.  After serving in the Navy he started working in the oil fields in a number of different capacities, including a stint on offshore drilling rigs.  For a time he was a long-distance truck driver.  He retired after working for Ellis County.

          Vernon’s father, Huldrich Kelln and his mother Allene (Ehrlich) Albers, preceded him in death.  He is survived by his brother Wayne Kelln and sister-in-law Carolyn of Chebanse, Illinois; his niece Nicole Robinson of Manteno, Illinois and nephew Jesse Kelln of Rockford, Illinois. 

          Vernon was a gentle soul who loved his land and his pets.  He will be missed and remembered by numerous relatives and friends.
