Toyoko Harmon passed away on March 6, 2026 at 76 years old.
Toyoko was born in 1949 in Ginoza, Okinawa. Yoko moved to the United States in 1972. She lived in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida and finally Goose Creek, South Carolina where she met Kenneth L. “Butch” Harmon in 1989. Butch and Yoko married on June 1st 1995 after Butch retired from the U.S. Navy. The couple then moved back to Butch’s hometown of Laverne, OK. Yoko worked many jobs during her lifetime including a rug manufacturer and many restaurants as a cook. Everyone loved Yoko’s cooking, especially her fried rice, tempura and egg rolls.
Yoko loved her family and friends with a giant heart and thoughtful kindness. She enjoyed visiting Okinawa where she could spend time with her siblings and eat fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner! She was an avid gardener and animal lover.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Butch Harmon of Laverne, Oklahoma, 3 sisters and 2 brothers all of Okinawa and Japan, and many beloved cousins, nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Chiuichi and Kame Kobashigawa.
In her last days, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be scheduled at a later date.
