Todd Bourquin Obituary

Todd Bourquin, 61, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, friendship, and a lifelong love of sports, family, and community.

Born on September 19, 1964, Todd grew up in Follett, Texas, where he developed a passion for sports and competition. A proud graduate of Follett High School, he distinguished himself as an accomplished multi-sport athlete, earning all-district and all-state honors and the respect of teammates and coaches for his fierce competitive nature. He spent many summers playing American Legion baseball with the Woodward Travelers and the Shattuck Dusters. In 1983, he had the honor of representing Follett at the Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Game held in the Astrodome. Todd’s passion for football led him to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers before multiple injuries brought his playing career to an end.

Todd continued his education at Texas Tech University before earning his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Winston-Salem State University. He built a career devoted to helping others, combining his love of athletics with a commitment to improving the health and well-being of those around him. His work took him to Phoenix, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Borger, and many other communities along the way. Todd developed lasting relationships with the teams he supported and the patients he served. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, even setting up a therapy table in his home in Follett, where he regularly treated friends, family, and neighbors. Serving others, brought him great joy.

A devoted University of Oklahoma fan, Todd rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his Sooners. He especially looked forward to attending the annual Red River Rivalry game in Dallas with Sue, Wes, and close friends. His love of sports extended to the golf course, particularly during his years in Phoenix, where he formed many enduring friendships and created lasting memories.

Todd also had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the time it allowed him to spend with those he loved. He found great joy in trips to the family cabin in Red River, New Mexico, where the mountains, fresh air, and fellowship created a special place for relaxation and connection. His adventures in Canada were equally meaningful, filled with early mornings on the water and evenings of laughter with close friends. These experiences were less about the destinations and more about the memories made, the stories shared, and the bonds strengthened.

Though he spent time in Arizona, Todd always remained closely connected to his roots in Follett, Texas—a place that shaped his character and remained dear to his heart.

Todd will be remembered for his competitive spirit, his loyalty to family and friends, and his genuine love for life’s simple pleasures. He touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Bourquin. He is survived by his mother, Sue Bourquin of Follett; his brother, Jeff Bourquin and wife Ellie of Follett, Texas, and their children: Kylie Schupp and husband Brian Schupp of Gilbert, Arizona, along with great-nephews Justin and Jackson Schupp; Morgan Foreman and husband Hayden Foreman of Logan, Oklahoma, along with great-nephew Hayes Foreman and great-niece Haylyn Foreman; and Raegan Moore of Midwest City, Oklahoma, along with great-nephew RJ Moore and great-niece Hazel Moore.
