Thomas Wesley (Wes) Stevens died peacefully at about 5 pm on Dec 8, 2025. Wes was born in Follett, Texas on January 17, 1929 to Albert Wesley Stevens and Nettie Edit (Bruce) Stevens. He graduated from Follett High School and participated in football, basketball, track, boxing, and his share of mischief. After graduation he worked in Follett at one of the gas stations and also drove a school bus. He married Lillian JoAn Kerns in Follett on June 1, 1949.
Wes and JoAn lived in Follett then moved to Liberal, Kansas before settling in Loveland, Colorado in 1956. He spent several years working as the Produce Manager for Safeway before taking a job at Hewlett Packard, working in the paint booth. After retiring from Hewlett Packard he and JoAn spent several years traveling in a fifth-wheel trailer until settling into a park model in Greenfield Village in Mesa, Arizona. They eventually moved and lived several years in Gold Canyon until entering into an assisted living facility in Surprise, Arizona.
Wes was a quiet man of few words. Through the life he lived he showed us what a great work ethic entailed. Even in his later years he was uncanny with recalling names, dates and places. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the gift of remembering jokes and then sharing them with you. He was a man who liked to work with his hands. He and mom built a cabin in Mountain Home, Wyoming and spent several winters snowmobiling. He was known for his love of woodcarving, making over 400 carvings. He enjoyed the serenity found in woodcarving, the creativity it offered. And he gave them all away as gifts. He will be remembered for his gift of finding a way to fix whatever was broken, building his own garage and cabin, and finding a solution to problems with his ingenuity. He was a man full of compassion and ready to help any other human. He was also a modest man who shared a simple yet full life with JoAn. Some of his hobbies and interests included photography, mountain climbing, backpacking, running, snowmobiling, archery, and probably his favorite, woodcarving,
Wes is survived by three children: Monte Wesley, Marcee Jo Grasso (son-in-law John), and Sheree Lynn (Schmidt). Grandchildren: Marlee, Richard, Jodi, Victor, Christine, Monica, Brian, Karen and Jennifer. Great grandchildren: Makayla, Kylie, Jacob, Jordyn, Zach, Daryian, Abbie, Madie, Devin; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Nettie; his wife of 72 years, Lilian JoAn; and siblings: Florence Louise, Alberta Faye, Irene Dot and Jackie Earl.
