Susan Ardath Smith Wicker was born in Rosston, Oklahoma at her grandparents Marshall and Cady Wilmot’s home on January 13, 1946.
She grew up in a loving home with her parents Elmo and June Smith and sisters Martha and Ginger and brother Tom. She attended elementary and High School in Rosston, Oklahoma and attended college at Panhandle State College earning a degree in Education.
She married Larry Wicker in August 1966 and they had two children Joseph Karl and Angelia Lee. In 1973 they moved to Eureka Springs, Arkansas where she taught in the Elementary school for 27 years. She also taught in Arizona at a charter school and in Wyoming at a rural school where she still kept in contact with the students she taught. She was a beloved teacher to her students as she took time to care deeply about each one.
Susan loved animals and had many dogs she loved and cared for. She also loved planting and tending to her flowers. She took pride in her beautiful flower beds. Susan enjoyed traveling and exploring, having many adventures.
Susan was an excellent cook and always had a pantry of home canned foods that she loved to share.
Susan will be remembered by all her many friends for her beautiful smile and open home. She and Larry played many card games with friends and neighbors.
She and Larry attended the First Baptist Church in Laverne after they retired and moved back to live in Oklahoma.
Susan is survived by her husband, Larry Wicker and son Joseph & (Michael) Wicker and daughter Angelia & (Shawn)Crosby. Grandsons Spencer Wicker and Mason Wicker. Sisters Martha Blankenship and family, Ginger Schneider and family and many other family and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Elmo and June Smith and brother Tom Smith of Laverne, Ok.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date in the Fall to honor her wishes.
