Robert (Bob) Osborn, age 82 years, 8 months and 28 days of Ashland, Kansas passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2025, after a short illness. True to his nature, Bob carried with him a gentle kindness, and deep love for his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Born on December 29, 1942, in Ashland. He was the son of Albert Earl “Ike” Osborn and Margaret Fern (Shumaker) Osborn. On July 21,1963, Bob married the love of his life Ellen Elloise Brooks and celebrated a loving and supportive marriage for 62 years. Together they raised two children, Renae Lin (Osborn) Lucas and Darren Robert Osborn. Their family grew to include 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
During his almost 83 years of life, Bob had a wonderful sense of humor; always trying to lift the spirits with a laugh or telling a great story, to anyone he visited with. His hobbies reflected his love for the outdoors and competition. He had a passion for trapshooting and quail hunting with his family and bird-dogs. Bob had an amazing talent for shooting the Bare Bow and won the State "Bare Bow Competition" in 1977.
Bob was a member of the Protection Christian Church, Ashland Gun Club, Masonic Lodge, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Bob was strong in his faith and in his later years he developed a passion to create beautiful crosses made from Tamarack wood he and Ellen gathered on the Cimarron River while enjoying their walks. Bob gave many of his beautiful crosses to family and friends. He often said that it made him feel like Jesus was standing beside him.
Bob's strong work ethic stayed with him and never really allowed him to retire. He was a hardworking man, operating his own business with Ellen and Darren; Osborn Contracting Inc. Even in semi-retirement, Bob always seemed to find ways to keep busy throughout the day.
Bob is survived by his wife Ellen; daughter Renae Lucas (Dave), son Darren Osborn (Connie), 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two sisters Sherryl Schofield, Debbie Pearce (Dan), and brother Harold Osborn (Joy). He was preceded in death by his loving parents Albert and Margaret Osborn and brother-in-law, Edward Schofield.
Dad, we will forever miss you. You were always there when life got rough and was our comfort when we needed it. We could count on you! Because of you, we have hearts of a lion, the love of our family, and an insane work ethic. May you rest in peace.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob's memory to the Christian Camp.
Memorial Services will be October 11th, at the Christian Camp Chapel, 11:00 AM.
