Robert Krier Obituary

Robert George Krier, II, lovingly referred to as George, age 67, of Ashland, Kansas passed from this life on December 6, 2023.  He was born August 1, 1956, in Meade, Kansas.  George was the fourth of six children born to Gilbert and Mary (Lincoln)Krier.

George grew up in rural Ashland, Kansas and graduated from Ashland High School in 1974. After high school he attended Farrier school in Ardmore, Oklahoma and worked various jobs in Washington and Montana before returning to Ashland to start his lifelong love of ranching.  He began his ranching life working with his Grandpa Krier and his dad.  In 2022, he and his brother Jeff continued the Krier & Sons tradition. George was a rancher until the day he died.

George married Michele Doyle on May 14, 2001.  Together they loved and cherished their “fur babies” and their nieces and nephews, enjoyed traveling, attending rodeos and spending time with family.

George’s love was his wife Michele, with his second love being a fireman, especially with Michelle firefighting beside him.  George was a proud member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Department for over 45 years, and “semi-retired” from driving the Ox in the summer of 2023.

Proceeded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Mary Krier, his sister, Barbara S. Hrencher, various Uncles and Aunts, cousins, and the love of his life, Michele, which he lost in 2014 to breast cancer.

Surviving siblings are Debi Krier, Colorado Springs, CO; Mary Jo and Larry Heyka, Manhattan, KS; Nancy and Eric Finley, Coffeyville, KS; and Jeff and Katrina Krier, Ashland, KS. He is also survived by his Uncle Jerry and Aunt Patty Krier and Uncle Robert and Aunt Shiela Lincoln.

George was blessed with sixteen nieces and nephews, twenty-four great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece.

George enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a fierce loyalty to both.   He loved his community of Ashland and was a big supporter of various community events.  He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Board Member of the Pioneer Krier Museum.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
