Olga I. (Armas) Howell

Olga I. (Armas) Howell was born November 2, 1930 in Mira, Ecuador eldest child of Ismael and Marianna Armas.

Olga came to the United States in 1960 and met her husband Don in Chicago, IL. They were married on January 5, 1966. After a brief stay in Baltimore, the couple returned to Ashland where Don was employed by the Mathews Insurance Agency. They purchased the agency in 1973 and operated it as Howell Insurance until 1999.

Olga was very active in the community belonging to many clubs and organizations along with being very active at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafting, bridge and traveling with her husband.

After Olga moved to Mesa, Arizona she became active in the ladies auxiliary of All Saints Catholic Church. Olga had a beautiful singing voice and began taking tap dancing classes as well.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Don in 2014.

Survivors include; son Mario and wife Pam of Mesa, AZ, grandson Jason of Denver, CO; daughter Janet Mowery and husband Doug and grandsons Luke Dougherty of Acworth, GA and Jack Dougherty of Marietta, GA. Also surviving are her brother in law, Vernon Howell of Ashland. Brother, Ismael Armas of Quito, Ecuador and sister Diana Coughlin of Oregon, WI.
