Monte Lee Roach, 92, of Par Village, Comanche TX, passed from this life Sunday December 24, 2023. He was born November 30, 1931 in Beaver, OK to Ted and Nellon Roach. Monte attended a one-room elementary school at Ivanhoe, riding a horse to school with his sister Kay. He attended school, played sports and graduated from Follett High School, Follett, TX where he was a star athlete. Monte continued his education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University and received a Bachelor’s Degree. He married Mildred Bourquin and they were blessed with two children.
Monte served in the United States Army, mostly in the Presidio of San Francisco, CA, as a radar operator. Upon his discharge, he returned to Amarillo, TX where he taught high school biology, math, and coached golf. He became an avid golfer, winning many tournaments in Texas and New Mexico. After a short time of teaching school, Monte found his true calling in the life insurance business. He obtained a general agent’s contract with National Farm Life Insurance and for the rest of his career he hired and trained men and women to sell National Farm’s unique life Insurance product.
Monte married Judy Roach June 30, 1995, in Dublin, TX. They moved to PAR Village near Comanche, TX following Monte’s retirement.
Monte is survived by his wife of 28 years, Judith Roach; his children, Robert T. Roach (Deidre) and Patricia Roach McGlohon, both of Amarillo; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and his sister Kay Sutton of Laverne, Oklahoma.
