Maudine Hamilton Obituary

Elsie Maudine Hamilton was born June 20, 1949 in Higgins, TX to Berlen & Florene Page. She was the sweet little sister to Jim, Bill & Mac . She went to school in Rosedale, NM, Grady, NM & graduated from Plateau Valley High in Collbran, CO in 1967.

She returned to Higgins to work for Bybee Well Service where she was the office manager. She could do just about anything to keep the shop running.

Maudine married Bud Hamilton August 1,1984 and they lived here in Laverne for 20 years until his passing in 2004. They enjoyed farming, ranching, camping and fishing. They loved "heading south" to spend the winters in their RV, catching fish. They especially loved being at Lake Okeechobee, Florida. They would have big fish fries and shared their catch with us all. And then began her love of greyhounds! Her and Bud had as many as 200 dogs in their breeding program. This was her passion and it showed! She worked hard and loved every minute of it. She made some of them champions and won many trophy's, including winning the Jacksonville Sprint Classic in 2013 with her dog "Time For Tootsie" who she still has!  In the racing community she loved the fun nickname of Louise as in Thelma & Louise!  She received the ultimate recognition when she was on the cover of the National Greyhound Racing Association magazine.

Which brings her to her life in Lee, Florida with John Steiner. Together they continued the legacy of her love of greyhound breeding, racing and adoption program. Maudie and John moved to Sheridan, Arkansas and slowly began to slow down their greyhound racing career. They moved to Elk City, OK 2 years ago and brought the remaining favorites and have acquired a few more lucky dogs to round out their family. She loved her dogs and they loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Berlen & Florene. Her brother Jim , a niece Brenda & her husband Bud.

She is survived by her best friend and companion, John Steiner, her house pups Sally and Yoda, sister in law Gaye Page of Sun City, Arizona, brothers Bill Page and wife Wanda of Wheeler,TX, Mac Page of Colorado Springs, CO,  cousin Ilene & John Floyd of Canadian, TX. Nieces and nephews: Alan & Rhonda Dillon, Mike & Shona Page, Pat & Nina Page, Stacy & Lisa McCasland, Rod & Donna Page, Jason & Catherine Creppon, Chris Page,John's sons Jeff & Kim Steiner & Jon Steiner, 18 great nieces and nephews and 16 great great nieces and nephews. She was a fun Aunt Maudie to us all!

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
