Mabel Corinne Davis Robertson was born July 8, 1930, to Hazel Kughn Davis near Agra, OK.  She was delivered by traveling Doctor William Baxter Davis, whose daughter, Aileen, 18 years later became her mother-in-law.  Corinne lived her early years on the Kughn family farm with her mother; her older sister, Dorothy; and her mother’s brother, “Uncle Bill”.  Corinne, her mother and her sister later moved to Morrison and then to Stillwater, where the girls completed high school.  She met her future husband, Bill Robertson, while she was working as a soda jerk in Stillwater.  He was 4 years her senior and attending Oklahoma A & M.

Corinne had never been out of the state of Oklahoma until she and Bill eloped, traveling to Estes Park, Colorado, where they ran out of money, got jobs and stayed for a year.  She soon developed a love of travel and of the mountains equal to her husband’s.

Bill and Corinne moved to Alva, Oklahoma, where he began classes at Northwestern State College, and she worked as a secretary for an insurance company.  James William was born there.  Marsha Dawn was born after they moved back to Laverne.  Mark Davis was born while they were living in Oklahoma City.  Shortly after Mark’s birth, the family returned to Laverne where Corinne continued to live until moving to Woodward Skilled Nursing and Therapy.

She was a very active member of the Laverne community where she was a cub scout den mother, a member and officer of Delphian Club, a member and officer of Laverne Band Boosters, a member and officer of the Laverne Methodist Church, and along with Bill an MYF Sponsor, founding member of Laverne EMS, and named Tiger All Around Sports Fan 2002-2003.  She also managed to find time to attend her children’s and later her grandchildren’s school, sports, church and music activities, while also helping Bill with his farming and ranching.  Bill and Corinne enjoyed traveling whether it was just the two of them or with family or friends.  Some of their excursions included, of course, the mountains of Colorado and New Mexico, trips to each US coast, Hawaii, tours of the Middle East including an archeological dig, Saipan, Germany, and England.

In the late 1970’s Bill and Corinne received a call from his cousin Max telling them of a cabin for sale near Red River, New Mexico.  It turned out to be a burned-out shell of a mess, which they bought and with the help of family and friends turned into a beautiful mountain retreat.  Through the years they hosted a myriad of family, friends, MYF ski trips and boy scout outings there, and the coffee was always on for the locals.

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Robertson, granddaughter Brooke Long, sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Paul Bourek, nephew Bill Bourek and niece Vicki Francoeur.  Survivors include children:  Jim and Delores Robertson of Hatfield, Arkansas; Marsha and Steve Cady of Laverne; Mark Robertson of Saipan and Beverli of Chelan, Washington; grandchildren:  Glenn and Stacey Robertson, John and Rebecca Ashley, Barrett Robertson, Scott Cady, Jessica and Scott Vaughan, Charlie Cady, Zachary Robertson and Briana and Brad Budge; 7 great grandchildren; nieces Kathi Yoshii and Amy and Dennis Vacula of Texas; other relatives and many friends.
