Most knew him as Luther but I called him Herman. I will never forget him. He knew how to do so many different things and work on any thing that needed fixing. He knew his Bible. He could talk for hours about it.

Never have I; Nor, will I ever again ( I suppose) look forward to sharing time on the phone with someone, as I did with Luther. Never went more than a couple of nights. We would share our past stories, to what we did that very day. As the weeks turned to years, it never changed. I drive a truck. Over the road. Long haul at night. And Luther was part of my nightly routine. One of us would call, we would have the best conversations. Even when I was at home on home time. My life is forever changed, now. But, I do still tell my friend that I love him at the time we would call. And I ask him if he is doing well. And I hear his voice in my heart say: "why, yes." "yes, I am."
