Lorena (McAtee) Null

Lorena McAtee was born on July 22, 1925 at the family home near Rosston, OK to Earl and Mona Cofield McAtee.  She attended the first three years of school at Hickman Valley Country School.  Lorena then graduated from Rosston High School at the age of 16 in 1942. 

She worked for Santa Fe Trailways in Wichita, KS for three years, and was married to the love of her life, Vern Null, on October 15, 1945.  To this union there were three children born, Darla, Lila Jean, and Tony.  The family resided near Rosston on their farm. 

Lorena was a long-time member of Rosston United Methodist Church where she served her Lord and Savior through teaching countless numbers of children in Sunday School, visiting and caring for members of the church and other friends, and helping with numerous meals for church gatherings and funerals.

In addition to the time she spent working for Santa Fe Trailways, Lorena worked the local switchboard, served as a cook for Rosston Schools, and worked as “Head Foreman” on the farm with Vern.  Long will be remembered the bountiful garden, tasty cookies and pies, fiddle playing, Celtics and Thunder NBA watching, competitive card games with friends and family, the ability to outwork many in the fields and yards, and the unending love for her family.

Lorena is survived by her three children, daughter Darla Dunigan and husband JC of Laverne, daughter Lila Jean of Laverne, and son Tony Null and wife Denise of Rosston.  Grandchildren include Dawn Kessell and fiancé Jason Phelps, Dayna Breen and husband Steve, Debi Dunigan-Vitt and fiancé Matt Lowman, Kelli Seacat and husband Dustin, and Trent Null and wife Jannica.  Great Grandchildren include Hunter, Joshua, and Zachary Kessell and families; Shayna Paxton (& family) and Addison Breen; Haven Robertson & family and Carter Vitt; Ember and Easton Seacat; and Tray, Jadyn, Rylee, and Koltyn Null; as well as numerous Great-Great Grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Vern on April 29, 2001; her parents, Earl and Mona McAtee; and six siblings, Lena Faye McAtee, Nadine Cook, Gay Lenz, Charles McAtee, Leo McAtee, and Lowell McAtee.  It can only be assumed she is gracefully dancing on the Streets of Gold with Vern as we speak.
