Lewis Lyle Cash
June 21, 1933 – March 16, 2023
Lewis Lyle Cash was born June 21, 1933 in Laverne, Oklahoma to Susie Elizabeth Rush and Meril Owen Cash. He left this earth for his heavenly home on Thursday, March 16, 2023 after a long and courageous fight with COPD.
Lyle grew up on the family farm just outside of Laverne. He was the middle child of Susie and Meril. He attended various schools in Colorado before returning to Laverne and graduated from Laverne High School in 1951. He went off to the Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Upon returning to Laverne, he began dating the love of his life Charlotte Mae (Shuman) Cash and they were married on January 12, 1962. This union was blessed with three children Curtis Owen Cash, Susan Frances (Cash) Elkins and Donald Lyle Cash.
Lyle was a hard worker. He worked numerous jobs in the oilfield, General, Inc., Harper County, Murphy Pig Farm and Farming. He loved watching sports and western movies, attending grandkids stock shows and events, avid card player, farming and was a die-hard OU Sooner fan. He never missed watching a Laverne Football or basketball game. He loved drinking coffee with friends at the Tiger Hut. Charlotte and Lyle were members of the Good Sam's Camping Club. They were members of Trinity Faith Fellowship. They enjoyed going to church functions and camping with friends. Lyle was a man of quiet greatness – a faithful man full of passion for God, love for his wife and family.
Lyle will be missed but we know as II Timothy 4:7 says, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness... "
Survivors include son Curtis Owen Cash and wife Tamra of Amarillo, Texas, daughter Susan Frances Elkins and husband Don of Amarillo, Texas, and son Donald Lyle Cash and wife Miranda of Fay, Oklahoma. Lyle had seven grandchildren, Amber Carlisle, Andy Cash and wife Helen, Alex Cash and wife Jobie, and Ivan Elkins all of Amarillo, Texas, Darci Cash of Stillwater Oklahoma, Dalton Cash of Granite, Oklahoma and Dayson Cash of Fay, Oklahoma, and seven great grandchildren, Shane Carlisle, Chloe Carlisle, Landry Cash, Easton Cash, Merritt Cash and Kensi Cash all of Amarillo, Texas and MaeLee Skipworth of Stillwater, Oklahoma. He is also survived by one brother-in-law Glenn Shuman and wife Denise of Laverne, Oklahoma and a host of family and friends.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte Mae (Shuman) Cash, mother and father Susie and Meril Cash, brothers Donald Dean, Billy, and Bob Cash, and Sister Lavona Kamalakis.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am Friday, March 24, 2023 at Trinity Faith Fellowship, 501 E Broadway, Laverne, OK 73848 with Pastor J. R. Slater officiating. Interment will follow at Laverne Cemetery.
