Lawrence Deal, lifelong resident of the Laverne, Oklahoma area, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was born on October 25, 1936, to George and Freda Deal. He began his education at Luther Hill Country School and graduated from Laverne High School in 1954. During his high school years, Lawrence was a standout athlete including a football star for the Laverne Tigers and a state qualifier in the 100-yard dash. His drive and determination on the field and track reflected the same spirit that would guide him throughout his life.
On April 12, 1952, Lawrence married the love of his life, Dixie Baker. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and hard work while raising their four children in Laverne.
A true “jack of all trades….master of none, though often times better than a master of one,” Lawrence lived out that motto with pride. Over the years, he held many roles in his community including school custodian, farmer, rancher, carpet layer, and school bus driver. Whatever the task, he approached it with a strong work ethic and good humor.
Lawrence was blessed with a large and loving family: Patty and Danny Manning, Brenda and Duane Barnett, Larry and Helena Deal, and Alan and Shiloh Deal. He is also survived by his brothers, Ronnie Deal and Clifford Deal; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Freda Deal; his beloved wife, Dixie Deal; son, Larry Deal; and granddaughter, Laura Barnett.
Lawrence’s life was one of devotion to his family, his community, and the simple joys of country living. His legacy of hard work, humor, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
