Josh Nine, 35, of Slapout, Oklahoma, joyfully entered the arms of his Savior Jesus on February 7th, 2026. He was born on November 2nd, 1990 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to his parents Hal and Lu Ann Nine. He had three siblings: Landon, Caleb, and Hallie.
Josh lived his entire life in Slapout, Oklahoma on his family’s cattle ranch. Josh was homeschooled by his mother. He played many sports: soccer, basketball, and baseball, which were coached by his dad. Through all of that, his true love was horses and cattle. At less than 2 years old, he loved riding shotgun gathering cattle with Great-grandpa BJ in his half-ton tan Chevy pickup, jumping terraces to make sure no cattle got away. Josh still enjoyed using that pickup to feed calves. Josh also loved checking calves with his dad horseback as often as he could. Josh received Christ as his Savior along with his brother Caleb in the living room at home at a young age, which impacted the rest of his life.
In 2010, Josh accepted a scholarship at Clarendon Junior College to continue his baseball career, which was short-lived due to an injury. However, he didn’t come home empty handed. That’s where he met the love of his life, Randi. The two married on December 10, 2011 and made their home in Slapout, Oklahoma where they started their own ranch and quickly added two children, Hagen and Dallin. Josh made a life for them by running cattle and buying cattle at local sale barns. He started his sale barn career working for his uncle Jerry sorting and loading cattle at Woodward Livestock Auction, then God opened an opportunity for him to work at Beaver County Stockyards in the sale ring because of his honesty. His dream was to be a cattle buyer, and he was given that opportunity by Jeff and Jeri Slatten and David Dodd to buy cattle for them. He had an amazing eye for cattle, knowing what would make money and perform well in the feedyard, and man did he love to feed cattle! Anytime his brother Caleb would ask, “what should I do with them?” he would say “FEED ‘EM!”.
In the summer of 2024, Josh and Randi’s prayers were answered with the news that they were expecting another baby boy, Hazen, due in January of 2025. Shortly before Hazen was born, Josh was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer that had metastasized to his liver on November 2, 2024. This began his greatest ministry. Josh took this trial head on, not the way most do, by turning it into “how can I use this to glorify God?”. From the very start, Josh said “God is bigger, and if just one soul is saved through my suffering, it will be worth it!”. No battle was too big for Josh. He had already won because of Jesus. After 15 months of fighting and continuing to provide for his family, his faith became sight.
Josh is survived by his wife, Randi, of the home, his three children, Hagen, Dallin, and Hazen, mom Lu Ann Nine, brother Landon Nine and wife Rebekah, niece Clara, brother Caleb Nine and wife Anita, nieces Hallie and Remi, nephews Tuf, Tru, and Tye, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom he loved dearly.
Josh is proceeded in death by his first baby lost to miscarriage, dad Hal, sister Hallie, and grandparents Bernard and Phyllis Nine, and Sid and Mary Lou Phelps.
If you plan to attend the service, the family requests you wear Josh’s favorite color, pink.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, in Josh’s name, for furthering the Gospel missions that he had a big heart for.
