Josephine Kliewer Peil, 92, died Sunday, June 19, 2022, in Canadian, Texas. She was born December 7, 1929, to Cornelius and Carrie (Singhisen) Kliewer on the family farm eight miles southwest of Follett, Texas. She was the youngest of seven children. She attended school at Follett, Texas. She married Edward John Peil on June 15, 1947, in St. John's Lutheran Church in Lipscomb, Texas. She was a lifetime member of Follett First Baptist Church. She and her husband farmed and ranched for many years. She also worked in various Follett businesses.
She was very proud of her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's church, school, and summer activities.
In 2016, she moved to Mesa View Assisted Living in Canadian, Texas. She had some good friends there—residents and staff. She enjoyed various activities there: dominoes, canasta, bingo, and especially, jigsaw puzzles with her dear friend, Betty Yauck.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her daughter, Nancy, her parents, and her siblings: Frank, Edward, Nealie, Opal, Leeroy, and an infant brother.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Mark and Marianne Peil of Darrouzett, Texas, and Mitchell and Angela Peil of Follett, Texas; one granddaughter and her husband, Kara and Chad Thomason of Cordell, Oklahoma; three grandsons and wives, John and Erin Peil of Melissa, Texas; James Peil of Sachse, Texas; and Corey and Rethia Peil of Cordell, Oklahoma. She had six great-grandchildren: Ellie Thomason, Tobin and Canaan Peil, David Ortiz, and Jagger and Scout Burrus. She also had many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
