John Douglas Butler, 66, of Follett, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 31, 1958, in Clarksville, Texas, to Kelley and Lois Butler.
John was a man of great character and kindness that devoted his life to loving and caring for his family. He married the love of his life, Dorothy McClinton Butler, on March 16, 2002, in Texarkana, Texas. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
John was a hardworking cowboy and welder by trade, with a passion for the rodeo and a deep connection to horses. He was always ready for an adventure, especially if it meant spending time with his children and grandchildren, whether that was at a rodeo, on a horse, or being drug into whatever new activity or hobby his kids had in mind.
A member of the Follett Methodist Church, John truly found faith in God later in life. He cherished his community and was a dedicated servant of those around him.
John’s family was his greatest pride, and he is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughter Kylee and Zach Landers with grandchildren Rylee, Avery, and Swayde; son Chance and Allison Butler with grandchild Ember; son Caleb and Natasha Holloway with grandchildren David and Kennedy; daughter Grace Butler and sister Brenda Hill.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Kelley Wayne Butler, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
