Jerald Stinson
September 27, 1949 - March 7, 2022
Born to Avery Stinson Jr. and Myrtle (Sickels) Stinson September 27, 1949 in Shattuck OK.
He was raised on a farm and ranch north of Laverne and graduated from Laverne High School in 1967. He served in the National Guard while in college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Married his high school sweetheart, Terry, in 1971. After graduating with a BS in Business Administration he began his nearly 40 years in banking. He and Terry began their family in Kingfisher OK with Jennifer being born. He helped start the Jaycees in Kingfisher. He and Terry enjoyed building several houses in Kingfisher. The family moved to Hooker OK to work for First National Bank, served on the Chamber of Commerce, and member of Loins Club. During their two years in Hooker Jay was born. Shortly after the family moved to Plains KS and spent the rest of his career as vice president of Plains State Bank and retiring in 2010. During his years living in Plains he served on the board of Meade County Economic Development since 1985 and trustee board for Meade County Hospital for eight years. He helped start the Meade County Community Foundations. He was a volunteer fireman and was a member of Lions Club at Plains. During his retirement he enjoyed being an agent for Aflac traveling the area meeting people. His passion was to serve his community and help people.
He is survived by his wife, Terry. Daughter, Jennifer and Rusty Colten granddaughters, Abagail and Audrey of Rosston OK. Son, Jay and Malissa Stinson grandsons, Jonah, Noah, and Luke of Wamego KS. Private services will be held at a later time.
