Janice Kaye (Weidner) Wellman

Janice Kaye (Weidner) Wellman, 80, was born on February 2, 1945 and passed away September 13, 2025. She was the daughter of Christian and Margaret Weidner. She was the younger sister of Jerry Weidner. Jan was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma and also graduated from High School in Shattuck. After her graduation she moved to Alva to pursue a degree as an Administrative Assistant.

It was about this time she met Ikie Lee Wellman. They both went West in search of work for Ike in the mines of Arizona. Their first son Christopher was born in Kingman AZ. In three years, Jan had found work in Las Vegas where their daughter Kimberly was born. It didn’t take very long before her father Christian got on a train in Dodge City with Margaret and went to Las Vegas to bring his baby's home. Jan started working at Newman Memorial Hospital until she found her true skill in sales. She became a Senior Sales Director in Mary Kay Cosmetics until her retirement.

During her long career she won many awards also earning a new car every 2 years for 25 years. She was very proud of the trail she blazed but none of this compared to her pride and excitement over her kids, then came the grand kids. Chelsea, Cody, Rebecca and Thomas, Jan was on cloud 9 after a few more years when the Great Grand babies came along. It all felt like a dream. She loved being called Mimi.

Jan moved back to Shattuck in 2020 to be closer to family and help her aging parents. Her final days was at the Shattuck Nursing Center
