Obituary

Jackie Loretta Saunders, 86, of Ashland passed away on December 8, 2022 at her home with her loving companion Scooter, her dog.   Jackie was born in Vega, Texas on July 27, 1936 to Jack & Mary Steward.

She married Hubert Milton Saunders in 1954 and raised four children.  Jackie worked at Borden, Inc. for 30 years in Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas.  After her retirement she worked with her son, Harold, at his business in Lubbock.

In January 2010, she moved to Ashland, Kansas.  She loved the small community and her home.  She spent many hours reading but also loved to get out.  Jackie is survived by her daughters Deborah Filson and husband Corey of Protection, Kansas and Vicki Moore and husband Steve of Amarillo, Texas.  She is also survived by her sister Ginger Smith of Pensacola, Florida and a son-in-law, Gary Tyree of Lubbock, Texas.  Jackie also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces she adored.    She was a member of the Ashland Bible Church and Women of Faith.     

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hubert, her brother (Butch), and her two sons Gary and Harold Saunders and Patti Tyree her daughter.

The memorial service will be at Ashland Bible Church at 1:30 p.m. December 15, 2022.  Please in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ashland Bible Church, Ashland Library or the Ashland Senior Citizens Center.
