Irene Opal (Gillespie) Elmore

Irene Opal Elmore was born November 28, 1921 to Sarah and William Gillespie in Madison Township, County of Beaver, Oklahoma. She married Glenard Elmore on August 31, 1941 in Woodward, Oklahoma. To this union 4 children were born. Frank (Judy) Elmore, Glenda (Reggie) Laubhan, Patsy Elmore and Bonnie (Donnie) Todd, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.

She passed away on June 2, 2023 at Twin Oaks Manor in Booker, Texas where she resided for over 10 years. They took very good care of her there.

She started college in 1953 and graduated in 1956 from Panhandle A & M College. She had 4 children and a husband at the time. She started her career in teaching at Boise City, Oklahoma. From there she and Glenard taught at Clearlake, Oklahoma until finishing her career in Follett, Texas.

Her family and her students were her biggest pride. She was the last living of her 13 brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenard and her son Franklin.
