Geraland Bond Obituary

Geraland Eugene Bond, 79, passed away Jan. 30, 2026, in Beaver, Oklahoma. He was born Dec. 5, 1946, to Delmar and Marguerete Bond in the Panhandle town of Gate, Oklahoma.

Geraland grew up on a farm southeast of Gate with his two brothers, Dennis and Delbert. He attended Gate schools and graduated high school in 1965. He later developed his mechanical skills at OSU Okmulgee, graduating in 1967.

Geraland met his future wife, Karen Ford, at a Methodist Youth hot dog roast at the Maphet Farm in the spring of 1965. They were married in August 1967. Two months later, he entered the Army for basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was later stationed in Mannheim, Germany. Karen joined him overseas, and they began their life together while sightseeing the surrounding European countries as much as they could.

In 1969, the couple returned home to the family farm. Their family soon grew with the birth of their daughter, Belinda, in 1970 and their son, Darron, in 1972. Geraland loved his family and worked alongside his father on the farm, raising wheat, alfalfa, cattle and hogs through blizzards and drought.

The Lord blessed the couple’s life together, and they became active members of the Gate Methodist Church.

Geraland’s mechanical ability was a tremendous asset on the farm. He repaired and maintained machinery, enhanced equipment designs, built outbuildings, and completed home improvement projects. Geraland loved spending time playing with his children, and he lovingly cared for his parents as their health declined.

As time passed, eight granddaughters joined the family. Geraland believed in camping in the mountains and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about the outdoors.

Geraland and Karen traveled through 48 states and visited seven countries, experiences they deeply treasured. Their family brought them great joy, and Thanksgiving at the Bond's home always brought everyone together.

In 2009, his brother Dennis introduced him to a wood carving class in Branson, Missouri, which led to a new hobby. Over the years, he carved many figures: cowboys, snowman, Santas, etc. He later began restoring and collecting antique tractors, which soon filled his shops. His collection grew to over 17 tractors of various kinds, all restored, painted and in running condition.  He also completed several tractor restorations for friends around the area.

More than anything else, Geraland loved serving the Lord. His handiwork can be seen throughout the local Methodist Church. Whatever was needed, he was always willing and able to tackle any project. Even when a family of five skunks moved under the church building, Geraland stepped in to remedy the situation.

Despite his struggle with Parkinson’s disease, his faith in Jesus never wavered.

Geraland was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Delbert.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Bond; his daughter, Belinda Leatherman, and husband Jim of Canadian, Texas; his son, Darron Bond, and wife Candace of Burns Flat, Oklahoma; his brother, Dennis Bond, and wife Sue; his sister-in-law, Gale Redway, and husband Cecil; and his sister-in-law, Christie Sherrill, and husband Robert.

He is also survived by his granddaughters Lauren, Brittany, Camryn, Rachel, Jamie, Michelle, Sarah and Kimberly, 10 great-grandchildren and many more relatives and friends.
