Garland Allan Pillars was born to William Jackson and Gladys Minion Smith Pillars on September 24, 1937 in the Antlers, Oklahoma hospital. He was the third child of four. Garland attended school in the Soper Independent School District. He met the love of his life Ida “Sue” Knight and they were married in 1955 in Hugo, Oklahoma. They celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage in January 2023. To this union were born five children; Marshall Allan, Terry Len, Cindy Sue, Haskell Lance and Billy Don.
Garland worked at the sale barn in Durant, Oklahoma. After marrying Sue, he broke out in the oilfields in Monahans, TX as a floor hand, working up to driller. In 1964 they moved to Perryton, Texas as a production foreman for Texas Production Service (TPS) and later went to contract pumping. They moved to Beaver to be more centralized to his wells. He was still doing his paperwork the day he passed. He was “Makin’ that circle”.
While living in Beaver he enjoyed team roping and playing softball with family and friends. Most of all he loved spending time with friends, family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his oldest sister Marshall and Mary Smith of Boswell, Oklahoma his oldest brother Bill and Faye Pillars of Soper, Oklahoma and his nephew Billy Marshall Smith of Boswell, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife Ida “Sue” Pillars of the home, sister Rhydonia “Doni” Pillars of Shreveport, LA, sons; Marshall Allan and wife Patricia Pillars of Farmington, NM, Terry Len and wife Tammi Pillars of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Cindy Sue and husband Calvin Madsen of Beaver, Oklahoma, Haskell Lance Pillars of Ada, Oklahoma and Billy Don Pillars of Ada, Oklahoma, 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
