Francis Kay Firth was called home by her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. She was born on
November 11, 1940, in Iola, KS to Clarence William Arb and Lois Viola Smithhisler.
Kay grew up in Beaver, OK and graduated from Beaver High School on May 19, 1959. On April 26, 1960,
she married Jimmy G. Winn, and to this union three sons were born: Jona Guy, Joseph Craig, and Jimmy
Gaylen. Later, on October 23, 1971, she married William Ray “Bill” Firth, and together they welcomed
one son, Wendell Kawlin.
For the past 18 years, Kay made her home in Stillwater, OK. Prior to that, she lived in Fairview, OK for a
few years, but spent much of her life in Laverne, OK. Laverne is where she raised her family and
established many of her most heartfelt and lasting friendships.
Kay worked several blue-collar jobs throughout her life, including with the U.S. Post Office in Laverne.
She appreciated having a job and took pride in the work she did. Whether baling hay, raising chickens,
being involved in local clubs, or supporting the activities of her four sons, she showed unwavering
dedication to her family and community. Kay also spent much of her spare time crocheting. She took the
art of crocheting to another level and created some of the most beautiful afghans, many of which will
continue to be treasured by family and friends for years to come.
Kay valued relationships deeply, expected accountability, and provided a calm, steady presence to those
around her. She taught her sons the importance of hard work, perseverance, and treating others with
respect. Her wisdom and quiet strength left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Kay’s true joy came from time spent with her grandchildren. She deeply loved them: Wyatt, Jimmie,
Cameron, Jacob, Bobby, Heather, Janele, and Cody. She cherished the moments shared with them.
Kay is preceded in death by her husband, parents, three siblings, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory, including her sons, daughter
in-laws, one sister in-law, stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
