Frances Ann (Setsuzo) Ives

Miyako was the fourth child of Setsuzo and Yoshie Funato, born October 11, 1931 in Nagoya, Japan. Her sister was Masumi and brothers Takeo and Tokiwa. She married Edward Carlin Jr. in 1954. They had two children, Marion and Marcia.

Miyako received he Certification of Naturalization on November 11, 1955 in Anchorage, Alaska and her name was changed to Frances Ann. She married Charles (Chuck)Ives October 9, 1967, they made their home in Wichita, Kansas and later in Follett, Texas.

Frances loved to crochet, play games and watch her favorite sports, tennis, followed by basketball and football, on TV. She enjoyed oriental foods, but she really loved fried chicken and tacos. Sure was tough for her to make a decision when KFC and Taco Bell were in the same building.

Frances learned English by reading from the Bible, she became a member of the First Baptist Church in Follett on January 4, 2009.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, 1 brother and her husband Chuck. She is survived by her daughters Marion Garrett of Belton, Texas, Marcia Phillips and her husband Larry of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Tracey and Michelle Garrett, Melissa and Amanda Phillips; great- grandchildren, Asia and Eugene. Numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
