Delbert “Butch” Elva Love was born July 23, 1940, to Elva and Odessa Love in Harper County, Oklahoma. Butch passed from this life on January 29, 2022.
In 1959, Butch graduated from Laverne High School where he played football, ran track, and was a Jr. Master Farmer and Treasurer for Future Farmers of America. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army for two years in a Mechanized Unit located in West Germany. Upon leaving the Army, he attended Okmulgee Tech earning his degree as a Diesel Mechanic. From 1984-1997, Butch relocated to Colorado where he owned and ran a horse ranch, before relocating back to his hometown of Laverne, Oklahoma. Upon relocation, Butch worked in the oil field until retirement. He then worked part time at Venture Foods, where he enjoyed visiting with the customers.
Butch first married in 1970, but was preceded in death by his first wife Cora “Corky” Love and his children: Barbie Schmidt, Angela Love, Charles Love and grandson Andrew Schmidt in 1983. He was also preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert, Benney and Gerald, two sisters Margaret and Layla, and son Gary Hayes.
In 1983 he married Paulette “PJ” McLinsky in Estes Park, Colorado. They celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage.
Throughout his life, Butch enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working with his horses and playing with his dogs. He loved making his family and friends laugh through his perfect sense of humor, which was always followed by his unique, contagious laughter heard throughout a room.
Butch is survived by his wife PJ, and his children: Dale and his wife Bobbie of Laverne, Oklahoma; Jerry Paul and his wife Carrie of Laverne, Oklahoma; Dusty Marker Yoder of New York; and Guy Hayes of Chelsea, Oklahoma. His grandchildren: Amy and husband Juan Torres; Cristal Shuman; Traci and husband Jesse Sluss; and Gracie and Emilio Juarez. His great grandchildren Juan and Victoria Torres, Dalton and Dovie Shuman, Annabeth Sluss, and several nieces and nephews.
