Delbert Wayne Dodson was born February 5, 1942, Gate, OK (Beaver County), to Isaac
Clay Dodson and Pearl Violet Seifert Dodson. He left this earth peacefully at his home
on Wednesday November 6th, 2024 in Knowles, OK.
He grew up farming and raising livestock. At a very young age he lost vision in his right
eye, but he could back a trailer better than most people with 2 eyes. Delbert graduated
from Gate High School May 12, 1961.
Delbert and Florence married November 26, 1961 (almost 63 years). They had their first
and only child Cheri July 18, 1962. Delbert, Florence, and Cheri who was around 2
years old moved to Washington State around 1964. He drove a chip truck, hauled logs,
and was a mechanic on all types of vehicles and machinery. He also built a home for
them in Washington State.
In the early 1980s, they moved back to Knowles, OK where he became a second
generation road grade operator. His father was a road grade operator as well. Delbert
retired with 31 years but then went back after that for a few years. He also worked cattle
for a friend for many years.
Delbert was a very happy person that loved to give people a hard time out of love; he
loved to tinker with things and work on things; loved to plant different vegetables in his
garden; and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his dog companion Dusty.
