Bernice Irene (Lane) Hart

Bernice was born on January 18, 1926, in a little house on a hill out west of Laverne in Beaver County. She was the last of six children, four girls and two boys, born to Bert and Emma Lane. The family moved from the farm to Laverne when Bernice grew up. She attended Laverne schools graduating in 1944. She worked as a telephone operator and as a waitress before getting married.

Bernice married Carl Sessions, a horseman from Stinnett, Texas, in 1950 and they enjoyed following the horse racing circuit and spending many summers in Raton, New Mexico, until his death in 1984. Bernice later married William Hart of Arnett, Oklahoma, 1988. They enjoyed many years together, taking in many dances, fiddle conventions, card games, and family, until his death in 2002.

Bernice had many hobbies that included dancing as often as she could, playing games, watching old movies and old western tv shows, crocheting beautiful blanket heirlooms, reading, she loved cats and most of all, time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Barber, Temple Texas, and Sandra Matthews, Prosper, Texas, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Brown, Buffalo, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.

She lived that past year and half at Parkview Pointe, a senior retirement center in Laverne. Bernice, passed from this life on January 7, 2020 at the age of 93.
