Barbara Joann Haines Foster was born on February 13, 1939, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, and passed away on January 30, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. Barbara Joann Haines Foster was born on February 13, 1939, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, and passed away on January 30, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. Her parents, Oscar and Betty Haines, raised her on the Haines family farm in Follett, Texas, and Barbara attended school in Follett, graduating in 1957. She attended the Apostolic Faith Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas. Afterward, she attended West Texas State University (known today as West Texas A&M University) in Canyon, Texas, earning a Bachelor’s Degree.

After teaching elementary school in White Deer, Texas, Barbara signed up with the United States Defense Department as a civilian teacher abroad. She was sent to Adana, Turkey, where she taught the children of American service members stationed at the Incirlik Air Base. It was at the base’s Officers’ Club that she met her future husband, Charles Foster, Jr. They were married November 24, 1970.

The Fosters settled in Moultrie, Georgia, where Charles retired from the Air Force and ran a construction company alongside his uncle. Their daughter, Catherin Elizabeth (Katy), was born in 1974.

In 1976, the Fosters returned to live on the Haines family farm in Follett. Barbara worked as a substitute teacher at Follett High School, then earned certification to become a Relief Postmaster for the Follett Post Office before she retired. She was very involved with the Follett Chapel, playing piano and organ, singing, and teaching Sunday School classes.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Haines, and her mother, Betty Haines. Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles Foster, and their daughter, Katy Foster Richardson, both of Dallas; her brother Donald Haines of Follett; her grandsons William Richardson and Andrew Richardson, of Dallas; and her many nieces and nephews.
