Obituary

Barbara “Bobbie” Elizabeth (Lane) Brown was born on December 20, 1921 in a little house on a hill out west of Laverne in Beaver County, Oklahoma to Bert and Emma (Lagerman) Lane. She was the fifth child in a family of two boys and four girls. The family moved from the farm to Laverne when Barbara grew up. She attended and graduated from Laverne schools and worked as a nurse in Shattuck, Buffalo and Laverne.

Barbara married Thomas Russell Taylor and they had two sons; Robert Russell Taylor and Jackie Lee Taylor. She married Marvin Brown on October 24, 1953 and they had a son Kim Brown and a daughter Pamela Brown Millender-Tardy. Barbara was a hard worker all of her life. They lived on a dairy and her day started at 4:00 AM with doing chores before going to her nursing job. Upon returning home, she would do the household work, raise her family and complete the evening chores at the dairy. Hard work and long hours undoubtedly contributed to her longevity.

They spent many summers in South Fork, Colorado spending time with RV family and friends. She loved horseback riding so much, that she would walk miles just to ride. She also loved boating, skiing and was a superb basketball player and bowler. Her favorite team was the Oklahoma City Thunder. She enjoyed reading books and trading them with her sister and was also an avid card player.

Barbara took great pride in working in her yard, putting in many hours, resulting in a beautiful yard. She enjoyed watching westerns such as Gun Smoke and How the West Was Won. Her favorite actors were Tom Selleck, Sam Elliott and she enjoyed listening to Elvis. Many people will remember that she made the best chicken and noodles, cinnamon rolls, fried chicken, fresh cherry pie and milkshakes. She loved her special dog Charlie Brown.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings (two brothers and three sisters), her husband Marvin, son Russell Taylor and grandson Tom Taylor.

She is survived by her son Jack Taylor and his wife Betty Taylor, son Kim Brown and wife Mary Brown and daughter Pamela Brown Millender-Tardy and husband Michael Tardy, grandchildren Travis Brown, Kassi Millender-Tardy, Jodi Jones, Dana McQuigg, Keri Cupp, Beth Witchey and Matt and Dillon McGuire, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildres and numerous special nieces and nephews.

One of her favorite sayings was “Be kind and help your fellow man for God’s sake it’s the right thing to do.”

Loving you changed my life and losing you did the same.
