Woodrow Edward (“Woody”) Walton, Ph.D., 84, of Ft. Worth, Texas, passed from this life into the presence of Jesus, his Lord, on Friday, December 27, 2019.
Woody was born to the late Woodrow R. and Virginia Lee Walton on November 4, 1935, in Washington, DC, and lived his childhood there and in Chicago, Kansas City, and Ft. Worth.  Woody graduated from Texas Christian University in 1957 and Duke University Divinity School in 1960.  He received a Masters degree in History from the University of Oklahoma in 1970 and a Doctorate of Ministry from Oral Roberts University in 1993.
Woody married Joy Hood on September 10, 1959.  They were happily married for over 60 years.  She survives Woody along with their two children, Stuart Walton of Odessa, TX and Delaina Molzahn of Shattuck, OK.  He is also survived by his grandson, Bradley Teague of Owensville, KY, his sister, Karyl Kline of Claremore, OK, and his brother Ronald Walton of McLean, VA.  He was preceded in death by his parents and by his granddaughter, Lindsey Barnett.
Woody’s life was defined from childhood through his death by his constant focus and desire to know and serve his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  This manifested itself in his educational choices and his life’s work.  He served as a pastor of churches in South Dakota, Minnesota and Oklahoma and then for many years as a professor of Theology at the seminary level teaching and training those seeking to enter the ministry.  His later years were spent writing articles that were published in multiple national Christian theological magazines and publications.  He also authored the book The Five-String Guitar, published in 2006, which was a commentary on the Biblical books of Song of Songs, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes and Esther.

A viewing will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 7100 Crowley Rd., Ft. Worth, TX on January 1, 2020 from 10 am to 5 pm with a memorial service at Christ Church Ft. Worth, 5301 Altamesa Blvd., Ft.
