Vernon "Warren" Broyles

Vernon “Warren” Broyles was born February 17, 1941 to Vernon Taylor Broyles and Lydia Kathryn (Shatto) Broyles in Higgins, Texas and departed from this life on February 14, 2018 in Mesquite, Texas.

He spent his childhood with siblings growing up on the farm southwest of Follett, Texas and graduated from Follett High School in 1960.

He worked at Farmers Grain in Follett, Texas, and Bell Telephone in Saint Louis, Missouri and attended their technical school. Bell Telephone then transferred him to Dallas, Texas. Bell Telephone became AT&T, and he retired from AT&T in 2001. Clarissa remembers him working 40 to 50 hours per week.

He married Augusta Oblander in 1965 and of this marriage they had two children, Troy and Clarissa. Clarissa remained at home to care for her parents and Troy is a computer technician in Dallas, Texas.

Vernon is survived by two sisters and their husbands, Vada and Freddie Kraft of Slapout, Oklahoma, Judy Travis of Shattuck, Oklahoma, two brothers JD and Judy Broyles of Shattuck, Oklahoma, Gene and Marilyn Broyles of Amarillo, Texas, a brother-in-law, Bob Jones, and a cousin and family friend, Darell Imke of Richardson, Texas.

Vernon was preceded in death by his wife Augusta his parents, Vernon and Lydia Broyles, one brother, Joel Broyles, two sisters, Velda Lowell and Kathy Jones.

Vernon had a passion to help people and would turn no one away.

If he had any spare time you could find him at Paula Sues Diner with the local crowd telling stories.

Vernon loved to play the steel guitar.

He loved to run around with his daughter, Clarissa.

His career led him to service calls for celebrities like Jimmy Dean, Dorothy Malone, and a Dallas Cowboy player.

Vernon lived in Mesquite for 40 years.
