Troy Wayne Purcell

     Troy Wayne Purcell was born on September 19, 1958 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Jack and Sandra Purcell. Troy departed this life peacefully, with his family and friends by his side, Friday, June 9, 2017 at Harper County Community Hospital. Troy was 58 years old.

     Troy and his parents moved to Laverne in September of 1961. Troy started school at Laverne and became lifelong friends with David Jean. From the time Troy and Sandy were in the 8th grade they have been best friends. In 1975, Troy being a junior and Sandy a sophomore started dating. Troy graduated high school in 1977. After high school Troy continued his education by going to Alva and attending Vo-Tech. He completed a two year course in one year, for auto mechanic.

     Troy and Sandy were united in marriage on June 2, 1978. They made their first home in Pampa, Texas where Troy stated his first oil field job. They lived there for four years before moving to May, Oklahoma. Troy started working as a production foreman for Home Petroleum. In July of 1982 Troy and Sandy had their first child, Lindsey. With their family growing they decided to buy a bigger house, which was right next door. In 1983 Troy started his own business pumping wells as a contract pumper. Troy worked very hard building up his business. In October of 1987 their second child, Nelson was born. Troy and Sandy enjoyed spending their spare time taking the kids to the lake to camp, boat and fish. Troy loved teaching his kids how to water ski. One of Troy’s favorite past times was going to “Camp David” and fishing with his friend, David Jean.

     Troy leaves as his survivors his wife, Sandy of the home; daughter, Lindsey of Laverne, OK; son, Nelson of Orlando, FL;  parents, Jack and Sandra Purcell of Woodward, OK; brother, Larry Purcell and wife, Patricia of Underwood, MN; sister, Sheryl Elliot and her children, Steven and wife, Brooke, Daughter Allison and Sadie all of Edmond, OK.

     Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Art and Clara Wilcox and Nelson and Estelle Purcell.
