Robert Leopold EhrlichMay 3, 1929 ~ June 10, 2018 (age 89)
Robert was born May 3, 1929 in Russell, Kansas to Emil and Alvena Ehrlich. In 1932, his sister, Marion, was born completing the family. At age 17, his family moved to the homestead north of Shattuck, Oklahoma to farm. He spent his senior year at Shattuck High School where he even drove the school bus. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict with a number of duties including a short stint as a printer and also a flight attendant on the California to Japan run.
On April 28, 1957, he married Genevieve Dora Gantz and they took over the family farm north of Shattuck growing wheat and milo, running cattle, milking cows, raising chickens along with gardening and all the chores that come with a farm.
In addition to all the activity that comes with the agricultural life, they were very involved with the Shattuck Seventh-day Adventist Church where Robert served as a deacon and worked in the tape ministry for years. Most Sabbaths, they visited someone not in church or who needed an encouraging visit. They were also very involved with the community through volunteering with Meals on Wheels and the Ellis County Food Bank.
They retired from farming in 2001, but they continued to live on the farm until 2017 when he and his beloved Genevieve moved to Cleburne, Texas.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife of 61 years and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He loved His Lord, his farm, his Case LA tractor, his little red pickup, and especially his Genevieve. He will be remembered and missed.
