Royce Williams, 61, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Ok.
Royce grew up in the Slapout and Laverne area where he graduated from Laverne High School in 1975. He began his career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in September 1978 as an Equipment Operator I with the Division Wide Crew. Royce advanced numerous times throughout his career with the Division Wide Crew.
In September 1991, he became the Transportation Superintendent II for the Ellis County Crew that he has led for over the last 27 years. Royce was a valued employee for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 40 years and 5 months. He had the most generous heart and loved helping and taking care of others, including his coworkers. Royce donated hundreds of his sick time hours to fellow employees who had ran out of hours due to prolonged injuries and illnesses that helped them financially through their difficult time.
He was also an avid car enthusiast and restored his dad's 1940 Chevrolet pickup and his first car, a 1970 Cuda. Royce entered and won numerous car show awards for his Cuda and best MOPAR.

-Directors Safety Awards for Ellis County: 1992, 1994, 2000
Those preceding him in death are his father and mother, Ray and Ila Williams and his sister, Ila Raye Malone. Surviving him are his twin sister, Rayla Green, and his nephew and wife Terry and Shannon Green and their family.
Graveside Memorial services will be held on March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairmont Cemetery in Follett, Texas with the Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Ok in charge of arrangements.
