    Myrtle Lue Lair, daughter of Loys Johnson and Ruth (Wisdom), was born December 14, 1939 in Wellington, Texas.  She passed from this life on November 29, 2018, at the Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years.

 

     She hoed cotton with her parents and (she was a cotton picker).  In 1954 she married Jack Bland and to that union was 6 children.

 

     Lue worked at the Shattuck Nursing Home, Collingsworth County  Hospital and was a waitress at the Big Texan in Amarillo, Texas. But most of all she enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and her little dog named Little Bit. 

 

     She was preceded in death by her late husband LeRoy Lair, parents; Loys Johnson, Ruth Johnson, Grandson Richard Bast and Zach Shaw, two son-in-law’s, Marvin Lair and Russell Taylor, and Aunts and Uncles.

 

     She is survived by her children, Jackie and wife Linda Bland of Waller, Texas; Julie Taylor or Gage, Oklahoma; Betty and her husband Jackie Taylor of Gage, Oklahoma; Loyd and wife Peggy of Brenham, Texas; Gerald and his wife Linda Lou Bland of Brenham, Texas; Belinda and husband Rudy Shaw of Woodward, Oklahoma; Nancy and husband Travis Riley of Woodward, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 3 nephews, and one niece. Two brothers; Mack and wife Besty Johnson of Newville, Pennsylvania; and Emmett Johnson of Childress, Texas.

 

     Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Shattuck, Oklahoma with pastor Curt Arne officiating. Casket Bearers were Donny Parker, Junior Parker, Dustin Shahan, Shane Lair, Tyler Bland, Richie Shaw and Zack Kraft.

Music for the service was pianist Biddy Sipe. Congregational Hymns were “The old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden”. Interment was in the Fargo Cemetery, Fargo, Oklahoma with the Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, OK in charge of arrangements.
