A few memories of uncle Jay...

You could tell he was waiting for that first hug as soon as you entered tge room. If the room was crowded and someone stole your attention he would eventually put in a shout out saying "you didn't get over here to hug me yet!" There was also never a parting without hugs and I love yous.

Jacks, cards, darts, horseshoes, jigsaw puzzels, fishing, camping, boating, skiing, going to church, talking about the Bible & Jesus, gardening & TV... All wonderful memories!

"Talk to me!" when he answered the phone!

He, uncle Tonie & dad taught me how to make the "Jack Ass Call".... I bought them all a plastic toy jackass that made that sound too... It was a happy meal toy! Two of them still sit on grandma's shelf!

He and grandma made beautiful quilts together. Grandma made small ones for the grandchildren... So my Nathan has one.

I remember well how he came to life when he and aunt Sally got together... They told me their story...he was asking some folks for a ride to a medical appointment and no one could help him...she offered. And there it began. His face lit up when he talked about her...just in the last month he talked about how beautiful she was as she lay there tired in the hotel where we all were. He said, "I'm not ready to leave her...I've not had enough time with her." The life, love and happiness that he had because of her was beautiful...it made it easy to love aunt Sally from the start.

Jay Dee you will be missed. I appreciate and will remember all the pool lessons you taught me at the Laverne Senior Citizen Center. I will miss your entertaining us with your playing and singing. RIP.
