Dixie Colene (Baker) Deal

Dixie Colene (Baker) Deal took the hand of Jesus to leave her earthly home behind on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 10 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Faith Fellowship Church in Laverne, Oklahoma.

Dixie Colene (Baker) Deal  was born in Laverne, Oklahoma on July 5, 1934 to Jacob James and Audrey Baker. Her childhood home is located south of Laverne where she grew up with sisters Betty (Baker) Welsh and Carol (Baker) Malone. Dixie began her education at the Luther Hill School and graduated from Laverne High School in 1952.

On April 12, 1952 Dixie married the love of her life, Lawrence Lee Deal, sharing over 65 years together. They lived in Laverne for a few years before moving to her grandparent’s farm 12 miles south of Laverne. Dixie loved being a wife and mother. She was actively involved in the farming activities as well being an accomplished seamstress. She later worked at the Leader Tribune, Wallenburg Hardware, owned and operated the C Shoppe and drove a school bus for 29 years. Dixie became an active member of the Apostolic Church in 1942 continually serving others in many capacities. She also served as an officer for the Laverne Senior Citizens Center. Dixie loved history and became an avid lover of scrap booking. One of her greatest joys was to take a camping trip especially when she could take along a grandchild or two or three! Probably every one of her grandkids and some of the great grandkids could share a camping memory. The trip that she and Lawrence took to Switzerland and Germany was a special highlight in her life.

With her passing, her beloved husband and family rejoice in knowing Dixie is now experiencing eternal joy and peace and rest in the promise of one day being beside her around the Throne. She is preceded in death by her parents, son Larry Don Deal, and granddaughter, Laura Kay Barnett.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Lawrence Deal, Laverne, Oklahoma; her children Patty and husband Dan Manning of Laverne, Brenda and husband Duane Barnett of Amarillo, Texas, daughter-in-law Helena Deal of Laverne and Alan and wife Shiloh Deal of Laverne. Along with her 22 grandchildren Kevin Barnett and wife V’Lynda of Perryton, Texas; Todd Barnett and wife Vanette of Amarillo, Texas; Duronda and husband Dustin Lookingbill of Shattuck, Oklahoma; J.J. Manning and wife Denise of Balko, Oklahoma; Daniel Manning and wife Sady of Laverne; Chad Deal and wife Angela of Laverne; Mindy and husband Nick Nichols of Forgan, Oklahoma; Scott Deal and wife Melissa of Laverne; Clayton Deal and wife Amber of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Chelsea and husband Shane Johnson of Yukon, Oklahoma; and Schuyler Beck and wife Valerie of Laverne. Also her 23 great grandchildren; Mason, McCoy, Marlee, Sydnie, Ethan, Maddison, Bryce, Hannah, Heidi, Henry, Xavier, Audrey, Jovie, Evelyn, Titus, Alexis, Taden, Breckan, Stella, Isabella, Luke, and Liliana.
