Charles “Wesley” Loomis was born May 28, 1926 to W.E. and Gladys Aldred Loomis, in rural Harper County near Buffalo Oklahoma.  He departed this life for his eternal home on Friday, August 23, 2019 at 93 years, 2 months and 26 days from his long-time home in Laverne, Oklahoma.

He met Cleta Pearl Wiles of Laverne in the summer of 1946 while attending a carnival in Mooreland and they fell in love on the ferris wheel.  They were married on February 27, 1947.  To this union three children were born, Vernon Wesely “Butch” Loomis, Eldon Earl Loomis and Barbara Grace Loomis.  They were separated by death when Cleta Pearl earned her wings on June 2, 2001.

Wes was fortunate enough to love and be loved not once but twice in his lifetime.  On May 25, 2002 he married Alice Marie Jackson.  Wes and Marie enjoyed traveling and were blessed to take many trips together.  They were totally devoted to taking care of each other, allowing them to stay in their home together. With this marriage, he gained two bonus children - Denise Clark and Mike Jackson.

Wesley worked for a number of years driving the bulk fuel truck for Harold Hedges Oil Company in Laverne.  Later, he and Cleta, along with son Eldon, purchased and operated the business.  He was employed by Dailey Oil Company of Woodward and retired from there in 1986.  In his later years, he worked as a custodian and parts manager for General Inc.  He greatly enjoyed his time at General; especially visiting around the table in the break room with fellow employees.

Wesley loved working with his hands and was a respected repairman of small engines.  He also enjoyed working with wood and created many beautiful masterpieces such as tool holders, doll cradles, rocking horses, clocks, shelves, cabinets and crosses which his family still enjoys.

Being present in the house of the Lord was always very important to Wesley and he faithfully attended the Laverne Assembly of God Church as long as his health allowed;  still holding the honorary title of Deacon at the time of his death.

He took great pride in his church and was instrumental in building the present Fellowship Hall.  The cabinetry in Fellowship Hall is a result of his handiwork.  He always wanted the grounds to look nice and spent many hours dragging hoses and moving sprinklers as well as maintaining the grounds.  In the summertime on a Friday or Saturday he could be found on his riding lawn mower grooming the lawn to have it ready for Sunday service.

Wesley was known as a kind person who always put others before himself.  Eldon and Barbara remember their Dad as a hard worker who always provided what they needed financially, emotionally and spiritually. He was very proud of his grandchildren and their many accomplishments.  The great-grandchildren always brought a smile to his face.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of fifty-four years Cleta Pearl, his son Vernon “Butch” Loomis, granddaughter Debbie Jo Blevins, and daughter-in-law Debbie Moser Loomis. Siblings, Elnova Norton, Nevada VanVranken, Willard Loomis, and Faye Wesner.

Wesley is survived by his wife Marie of the home, and his children - Martha Loomis, Eldon and Tina Loomis, Barbara and Geary Blevins, Denise and Terry Clark, Mike and Marcie Jackson.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and their spouses – Kevin  and Angela Loomis, Charlie and Kimberly Loomis, Tim and Jamie Loomis, Tammy and Ricky Larson, Barbara and Mike Compassi,  Michael Loomis and Rebecca George, Judy Bulman, Mary Koch, Brian and Crystal Blevins, Ryan and Amy Clark, Tyler and Ashley Clark, Corey Clark and Jared Jackson; along with twenty-six great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; also surviving sisters-n-law Marie Wiles Skinner, Anna Mae Wiles, brother in-law Neil and Janelle Cole, long-time friends Wesley and LuAnn Peterman, several loving nieces and nephews, and many friends.
