Betty J. Kirkhart born July 3,1923 in the Speeremore community southwest of Laverne to Howard and Minnie Lloyd was introduced to eternal life with our heavenly father March 5, 2019. She was the fourth child and was referred to as the firecracker baby. She went to school at Speeremore until Howard and Minnie decided to move to Laverne so Betty could finish schooling where she graduated with the class of 41.

She met the love of her life shortly after graduation and married him on September 11, 1943 when Leo was back on leave during WW II. After Leo’s discharge from the Army they made their home in Harper county living in Laverne and Buffalo where Leo was hired by Phillips Petroleum.  In 1944 Leo and Betty suffered the loss of their first child Larry. After sowing their oats for twenty years Betty gave birth to Bob on December 3rd 1966 in Belleville Ill. After stays in Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio and Iowa with Phillips Leo retired after 35 years and her family came back home to Laverne where most of their family lived or were close by.

Betty loved being back in Laverne where she and Leo followed Bob in his senior year at Laverne High School and sat on the front row of every sporting event Bob competed in, cheering and scolding him when needed.  After Bobs graduation from college at Alva (which made her and Leo so very proud) Betty and Leo started to see the rest of the states going to army reunions and visiting friends and family throughout the U.S. and traveling with friends to their special events which may only be to Ditch Valley or the Clear Lake areas.

Her grandkids Cede Beth Kirkhart, Trayven Kirkhart , Mercedes Frizzell and Tanner Bozarth were the joys of her life. She traveled to Illinois and Kansas and across the street to watch them grow, and after Cede and Trayven moved to Laverne she never missed an event they would be in until she could no longer go, then she and other residents at Parkview Point would huddle around the TV and would watch the games on Eland Broadcasting.

Betty is survived by her son Bob Kirkhart of Laverne, Grandkids Cede Beth Kirkhart of Alva, Trayven Kirkhart Laverne and many other relatives and extended family.
