Austin Andrew Riggs was joyfully welcomed into this world on July 19th, 1987 (Shattuck, Oklahoma) by his parents Randal and Jerri (Rolf) Riggs and his bother Adam.

“Ozzie” as some of his family members called him grew up 8 miles west of Laverne at the family farm. He currently lived just a little east of there, behind his grandma, Elma.

As there were few other children in the neighborhood, Adam and Austin were reduced to playing with each other. Many were times when they were young that one would run through the house chasing the other.  As typical brothers, Austin enjoyed tormenting Adam and the feeling was mutual.

One particular time – both boys went tearing through the house – Austin broom in hand – jabbing the end toward his brother- who, just in the nick of time shot into the bathroom and slammed the door. Adam was saved – the door was not so lucky.

And then there was the time that Austin stuffed his 14-year-old self with chocolate pudding right before his brother grudgingly game him a ride to school in his brand-new pickup. That pickup never made it out of the drive way with the upchuck pudding on the seat and floor.

Four-year-old, Austin once tried to surprise his dad by spraying black spray paint on his freshly painted ’76 Ford pickup. He came proudly to the door to show us what her had done. Austin had to be hidden for a little while as his dad rubbed off the paint.

Austin graduated from Laverne High School with the Class of 2006. He worked as a stocker in the animal feed department at Atwoods for 2 years. Austin spent many hours with his grandma (Elma) and mammy (Norma Jean). Sometimes he was helping with various chores sometimes lying on the couch watching TV and almost always looking for a snack. Aunt Diane’s was another favorite place to hang out. He enjoyed the company of cousin Shance, nephews and of course, free food.

Austin was saved as a young teenage and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Laverne.

Austin left this life suddenly on Monday, September 24, 2018. He has blessed us with 31 years of precious memories filled with tears, smiles, and joy.

Preceding him in death were his grandpas Arles P. Riggs, Jr., Lawrence “Shorty” Rolf, uncle Leroy Whisenhunt, and cousin Angie Bond.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents Randal and Jerri (Rolf) Riggs, brother Adam and wife Chrystal, (Jayden, Dakota, and Ava), grandma Elma Riggs, mammy Norma Jean Rolf, aunts Diana Whisenhunt, Linda (Darrell) Hill, and Debbie (Donnie) Crigler, Melinda (Ron) Hall, Susan (John) Young; uncles Jackie (Mary) Rolf, Danny Rolf; many cousins and friends.
