      Ross Romine King, 83 of Shattuck, was born the 3rd child of Ray and Emma (Kaufmann) King on November 26, 1933 in Loma Linda,California. He spent his early years in the Redlands California area helping his father in the citrus groves. He graduated fro Redlands High in 1951. He was drafted into the army during the Korean Conflict in 1953, serving his country until 1955. His duties were truck driver in heavy motor company. He received National Defense Service Metal and Good Conduct Metal.
After discharge from the Army, Ross went to the work for the U.S. Forestry Service. During this time he met and married Carol Spomer on July 21, 1962. Their son Jon was born on June 11, 1063 in Loma Linda, California. In April 1964, the family moved to Shattuck to help with the farming operation. On November 16, 1966 daughter Sherri was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma. In 1978 Ross started working at the Newman Memorial Hospital as head of housekeeping until his retirement in November of 1998. He spent many hours making sure that the facility was neat and clean. After retirement, Ross spent his time farming, ranching and spending as much time as he could with his 3 grandson's who were his pride and joy. Ross also volunteered at the Ellis County Food Bank from its early beginning until his illness in September 2016.
Ross passed away December 8, 2016 at his home with Carol by his side. He is survived by his wife Carol of 54 years, son Jon and wife Trina, daughter Sherri and husband, Brian Rabon, three grandsons Tracen Rabon, Conrad And Emitt King. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Kenneth King wife Brigit of San Diego, Ca, Irvin King and wife Eleanor of Honolulu, Hi and 1 sister Marilyn Leckler and husband Courtney of Redlands, Ca, 11 nieces and nephews, many cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Emma King, brother Dale and Donald. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Ellis County Food Bank, Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
